Dealing with Stress

Sometimes we get so caught up in life. Our schedules so full that we can’t even remember what we have to do tomorrow. It happens to all of us at some point (myself included). If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your situations or how busy you are, you know dwelling on those feelings only makes them worse – not better.

What do we do when we’re so busy we don’t know what to do?

To start, I’d like to share a couple of scriptures that continually encourages me when I’m stressed.

1 Peter 5:7 ~ Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Philippians 4:7 ~ And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Next I want to tell ya’ll that I’ve been there. I’ve been stressed and I know that there really isn’t a cure, besides Jesus. Turning to Him is the only way to really cure stress, anxiety, and other things like that. He wants you to come to Him and cast ALL YOUR CARES on Him, because He cares for you.

Just think about that. Isn’t that awesome? The God who created the whole world, cares about YOU and ME?

He wants to hear your problems. He wants to give you peace in your heart and your mind.

This takes surrender. Surrendering your every days to Him, for He knows what He’s doing with your life. If we try to have control of our lives and get all our goals done, we will fail. If we let Christ have control of our lives, He will transform our lives.

Here are a few simple tips for dealing with stress.

  • Surrender and spend time with Christ daily

Spending time studying and meditating and memorizing God’s Word is so important. Surrendering your life and your all to Him is just as important. Let Him have control of your crazy (or not so crazy) schedule.

  • Jump for joy when you feel sad/stressed

So this may sound crazy, so hear me out. When you feel like crying (or not even that bad) and want to pity yourself, praise Jesus. Smile. Laugh. Even if your just saying “ha ha ha” and it’s not a true laugh, trust me, the joy will come. Don’t just have joy when you’re genuinely happy – have it when you’re not and the genuine joy will come.

  • Know that God cares for you and you can always come to Him

Know that when you cast all your cares on Jesus, He cares for you and will fill you with peace that surpasses all you can ever begin to imagine or think of! Trust Him with your life, and He will be faithful.
