Being Thankful

When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul

It is well
With my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ~Rejoice always,  pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Hey everyone! Happy happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to do a post about giving thanks to Jesus today (average, I know…). So many of us are thankful for one day, one week, or maybe even a month in the year! But once this month is over, many of us go back to our old ways of grumbling and such. Myself included…

However, giving thanks is so important – and that verse I put above says that it’s God’s will!

How can we have an attitude of praise at all times? Here are some simple ways to incorporate praise into your daily life. 🙂

— Verses around your house

This sounds so simple, but posting verses on index cards/sticky notes/etc around your house helps get them into your head. Then, when the devil tries to get you down, you can have those verses of praise to combat!

— Praise worksheets

My friend at Bible study found these worksheets from notconsumed.com that are so amazing! They have multiple things to be thankful for such as who God is, who God made me to be, God’s creatures, etc. Here’s the link: http://www.notconsumed.com/free-printable-thankfulness-journal-and-cards/

— Worship songs

When you are feeling down, turn to Scriptures you know that speak truth and sing them out loud!

Sing worship songs you know and choose to smile.

Life is hard, but combating tough times with Scripture changes things.

— Surrender

I feel like all tough situations go back to one thing: surrender.

When you start to feel down and you don’t “feel like” praising, give it to God. Trust Him with your life, and this situatioKnow that your life is precious and waking up is a gift! It is well with your soul! Whatever happens, God is still there and it is well!n, for He is more than capable to us it for good.

I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving, spend it laughing with family and friends, and eat lots of food. 😉

I’d love to hear your answers to these q’s in the comments below!

— How will you incorporate praise into your daily life?

— How do you feel you’re doing with praise every day if you’re honest?

— What are your favorite worship songs and verses?

  1. Ooh…good questions…hmm.
Well for the first one, I think playing worship songs is a big one for me. It helps me to remember that God gets all the praise, for everything!
For the second question (here’s where I get REALLY honest 😬) I usually don’t think to praise the LORD every day; it’s more like every other day, or every two days. And I know it’s soooo important to praise the LORD in everything and at all times, so I’m working on it!!
Aanndd….right. I really have a hard time with specific songs, but for bands, I like for KING & Country, Ellie Holcomb, Michael W. Smith, and maaaannny others. 😉 What about you? Oh, and for verses, I would have to say Romans 12:9-21. Those verses always come back to me and encourage me. You?
