{ Forgiveness }

Forgiveness. Something that is easier said than done. The Lord wants us to forgive, but it can be so hard when people hurt our hurts leaving deep wounds.

We want to think that forgiveness doesn’t apply to every situation, but it does. It doesn’t matter who you are or how you have been hurt, you must choose forgiveness.

Remember the price that Jesus paid for – you -. You have sinned against Him so many times, yet He chose to bear all those sins on His own body (even though He was completely perfect, sinless, and pure) and died to save your life.

He gave you love and forgiveness so that you might share that with others.

I don’t know what you’re going through or how you may or may not have been hurt, but I do know one thing – whoever is hurting you is most likely hurting and needs to be shown love. It’s your choice as to whether or not you will show them that love.

I know it’s hard, in fact, it’s one of the most anti-flesh things we could do and goes against the norm. However, it’s also one of the most freeing and beautiful things you can do.

I don’t know how the person will react when you forgive them, because not everyone appreciates forgiveness at first or at all. But I do know that you will feel lighter and better because of it. This isn’t the reason for forgiving, however. Here are a few verses that highlight what I’m trying to get at in this post:

{ Ephesians 4:32 } Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

{ Matthew 6:14-15 } For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

When someone deeply hurts you or even just hurts you in a little way, as you start to think or say bad things about them, remember to pray for them instead. Ask the Lord to show you how you can love them and give you the strength needed to forgive Him. Ask Him to take every evil thought against that person captive and to not allow it to enter your heart or mind again.

Choose love. Choose forgiveness. Even if you don’t want to love that person or forgive them, God will give you the strength to forgive and the love to fill your heart.

  1. Forgiveness can be a deep subject that not very many people talk about. Thanks for writing about this and encouraging us to forgive-just as Christ forgave us. Keep Writing for Him!
