{ Thy Will Be Done }

{ Luke 22:42 } “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

{ Matthew 6:10 } your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

I’ve begun to notice how people (including myself) sometimes have desires that don’t line up with Jesus’. And when He doesn’t allow things to happen that we think should happen, we usually get upset. We read the Scripture, we hear the songs, we sing ‘thy will be done’ but when it comes to living it out, do we really line up our lives with that truth? Do we let His will be done in our lives? Or do we hinder it by letting our OWN desires and our OWN wills get in the way?

I know that it can be so hard when you want something and don’t get it. You think that you should’ve gotten it. Say you didn’t get to go to a friend’s sleepover party because you had to help your mom clean the house. How would you respond? I know I’d be moping around, to be honest.

As I log into WordPress and begin to type up this post today, I turn on some worship music on Spotify to listen to. You know what the first song that plays happens to be? Salt and Light by Lauren Daigle. God is so so cool, ya’ll. 😉 But the lyrics line up with what I want to talk about today.

Let my eyes see Your kingdom shine all around
Let my heart overflow with passion for Your name
Let my life be a song, revealing who You are
For You are salt and light

You may have desires that line up with Jesus’. But these lyrics above must be what we want first and foremost – for God to be glorified in all we do, to have His way in { e v e r y } area of our lives.

Allow God to search your heart. To see what your first desire is. Is it for worldly things? Attention? Likes and follows on social media? Or is it for God to be glorified? For your life to be a worship song to Him?

Realize who you are in Christ. You all are beautiful, cherished, and LOVED children of the Most High God. And once you even begin to realize just how much he { l o v e s } you, you can walk in the fullness of Him each and every moment that you are alive.

Let the cry of your heart be thy will be done, oh Lord. When He faithfully shows you desires you have that don’t line up with His amazing plans for you, submit them to Him, and cry out, let my life glorify you, amazing Father!

For when His will is done in your life, the devil will run. He cannot stand in your presence, because it is the presence of God in { y o u }. And lastly, know that His will can only be lived out with *HIM*. Don’t try to walk this walk and live this life alone, for you need Him every hour.
