Gender Matters { pt. 3 }

To all the guys out there. God created you to be a man for >a reason<. You weren’t made a male on mistake – God purposely created you to be this way and in this post I want to explore what being a Godly man means.

Here are a few Scriptures on Godly manhood:

1 Timothy 6:11 { But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.}

1 Corinthians 16:13 {Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.}

Ephesians 5:22-25 {Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,}

1 Peter 3:7 { Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.}

A man of God is the stronger vessel. The verse above says to treat women with respect, as the weaker vessel. Chivalry may not be so popular in our world today, but it is surely alive and it is God’s plan. I encourage you to be chivalrous – whether it be holding doors open, pulling out chairs, or helping an elder, it all matters in God’s eyes. Even if someone puts you down for doing this, or says, “I can do this on my own,” remember that true women of God will appreciate your acts of kindness. Those women are the only ones worth pursuing. Even if you’re not married, you can still practice being the stronger vessel, by helping out wherever and whenever you’re needed.

A man of God isn’t caught up in this world. He pursues righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. He strives to be pure before God, he keeps his faith and trust in the name of the Lord and that alone, he strives to love others unconditionally, he endures and perseveres through good times and bad, and he is gentle and kind. I’m not saying anyone can fully embrace all of these qualities, but they are what he strives for. A godly man spends time with Jesus every day, he prays and reads the Word, and he seeks Jesus with his whole heart.

A godly man stands firm in the faith. Guys, I know you will face struggle. James 1:2-3 says that >when< we face trials, we must choose to be joyful. We must stand firm in our faith during those times and all times. Stand firm on the Word of Jesus, an unshakable rock and foundation.

Lastly, I want to talk about how Godly men act regarding women. They show {{ respect }}. They aren’t rude or inappropriate in their reactions to girls, but they respect them and are considerate toward them. Whether married or not, they respect all women, and if they are married, they serve their wives by leading them and being the stronger vessel.

To sum up all the things that those Scriptures say a Godly man is, here’s a quick list:

  • A Godly man is the stronger vessel
  • He is chivalrous and strives to help always
  • He seeks God with his whole ❤
  • He pursues a relationship with Jesus and strives for righteousness
  • He stands firm in the faith, knowing that what God says is true
  • He respects all women, and honors his wife

I hope and pray that this encourages all of you guys out there. Thanks for striving to be Godly young men, and for all the little chivalrous things you do to show you care. If someone ever puts you down for how you live, know that God sees and smiles because of how you’re living in His truth.

Much love and blessings,

  • Caitlyn
