In October, Tobymac, a popular Christian singer/songwriter, lost his oldest son Truett, who was only 21. I had grown up listening to all the songs Truett did with his dad from when he was a little toddler to when he was a teenager. Thinking of him being dead was saddening and mind-blowing.
As I’ve heard of Truett’s death and the death of other young people, I am humbled and realize an incredibly obvious yet important truth – every day is a gift. I might not like to think about it, but I could die at any time. Any one of us could have a heart attack, get in a car crash, or die in our sleep. I don’t say this to scare you, but to remind you – this life is an incredible gift, and we need to be grateful.
In today’s post, I want to talk about how Truett’s death reminded me to be grateful and ways we can intentionally walk in gratitude each & every day.
Giving thanks is something most of us (in the U.S. anyways 😉 ) are thinking of this time of year. I honestly LOVE Thanksgiving. Watching the Macy’s day parade, being with my family, and eating too much delicious food makes me happy. 🙂 .
As much as we love the day of Thanksgiving, “thanksgiving” is more than a holiday. It’s a lifestyle. I know you’ve probably heard this before, especially around this time of year, but it’s SO TRUE. Today I want to share about how we can learn to be more thankful in our daily life and cultivate a grateful heart.
It’s hard to believe that fall is here! The summer days just seemed to fly by. A few of weeks ago, I was putting out decorations, getting ready for the Autumn season, when I began to think again about the subject of thankfulness and the whole overall aspect of the season.
I have been blessed to grow up in a Godly home with loving parents who have taught me from the very beginning of my life to be grateful for opportunities to bless people. So I am thankful for this opportunity to write on this blog. Because more than anything, I am hoping to encourage you all as well as myself to follow hard after Jesus.
My thankfulness journal 🙂 (each night I write down 10 things I’m thankful for from the day)

What are YOU thankful for today?
Romans 1:16-17 // For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”

What are YOU thankful for this Thursday?
Psalm 91:9-16 // Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and cobra. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot. “Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him. I will satisfy him with long life, and show him my salvation.”
